During February, we completed an eight-month asset portfolio update project covering 14 of Schroders Greencoat’s renewable energy sites. This included onshore and offshore wind farms, solar energy installations, and battery storage facilities located across the UK, Ireland, and Germany.

The objective was to photograph and film these sites, both with traditional ground based photography and using high resolution drone photography, under optimal lighting conditions to highlight their significance for stakeholders, partners, and the public. Despite the seemingly straightforward task, its execution presented logistical complexities due to the geographical spread of the sites, ranging from the Scottish Highlands to the English Channel, the West coast of Ireland to the Humber Estuary, and northern Germany. Effective planning and coordination were crucial, though adapting to unpredictable weather conditions required considerable patience and flexibility to capture the best possible visuals.
Ultimately, the efforts yielded remarkable results, from breathtaking sunrises in Germany and sunsets in Ireland to dramatic snow-covered highlands and heather-clad moors in England.
The project involved traveling 4,000 miles, generating 750GB of image and video data, comprising 3,000 still images and 350 video clips. It also included 27 nights away and the consumption of numerous coffees, along with a few curries and a couple of bratwursts!.
